Well and Balanced Diet with the Eatwell Plate

To have a well and balanced diet, people should consume balanced food that will provide the nutrition that their body need. People can use eatwell plate as their basic guide on how to fulfill the entire nutrient intake that they must consume every day.

Based on this simple guide, there are five types of food that people need to consume everyday and they are:

  1. Starchy food such as rice, bread and potatoes, as the source of carbohydrates. 1/3 part of what people eat every time should contain starchy food.
  2. Fruit and vegetables as the source of vitamin, mineral and fiber.  The eatwell plate recommended that people should fill 1/3 of their plate with this kind of food.
  3. Fish, egg, meat, beans and other non dairy food as the source of protein. Protein is the building block of human body so make sure to have enough of this kind of food
  4. Milk and dairy foods as the source of calcium and also protein. Milk and cheese are the common example of these types of food and try to consume low fat milk that is so much healthier for the body.
  5. Other kind of food with sugar and salt. The eatwell plate recommended eating as little as possible for this type of food.
