Macrobiotic, the New Kind of Diet

Some people may not familiar about this type of diet, but the truth is, this kind of diet has been adopted by many people throughout the world. The name is macrobiotic, which is actually a philosophy of life that brought by George Osawa from his country, Japan.

Cooked Food as the Center of Macrobiotic Diet

In this diet, cooked food is the center of everything. It means that everything that people eat must come from something that they already cook before. Raw food is not allowed to eat because it is too cooling for the system and it can very difficult to digest. Macrobiotic diet also stated that people can only consume minimum amount of fruits, less than 5% of the diet.

Those who follow this diet also don’t consume animal products including eggs and dairy foods. The only animal products that allowed eating is whitefish such as sole and trout, where people can consume only 5% of the diet. Overall, it seems like a vegetarian diet, even a vegan diet although there are still a small number of animal products that they were allowed to consume. This macrobiotic diet can be another diet options that people can try especially those who interested in vegetarian way of life.
