Lose Weight and Control your Blood Sugar Level with GI Diet

Most diet is focus on what people can eat and what they can’t eat. The same thing goes for GI Diet or Glycemic Index diet. This is the kind of diet that focus on glycemic index on foods type. All kind of food has something called glycemic index, that refer to the ability of the food to raise blood sugar. This diet suggest that people should stay clear from food with high GI, which will help them not only to lose weight but also to control their blood sugar level.

GI Diet and Food Type

There are three categories of glycemic index food that people need to know if they want to try GI Diet. These categories based on glycemic index level on each of these food group and they are:

  • Food with high GI (around 70 or higher than that), such as white potatoes, white rice, food made from white flour, and sugary drinks or beverages.
  • Food with medium GI (56-69), such as corn, raisin,  grapes, bananas and even ice cream
  • Food with low GI (under 55), such as carrots, peanuts, most fruit, peas, kidney beans and oatmeal

Those who follow GI Diet are allowed to eat more food with low GI and only occasional eat food with higher GI, in order to bring the result they want.
